Mechanical Breakdow Insurance refuses to pay...?

Hi and thanks for taking time to help me out. I have bought a BMW 540i (1997) back in January. I was really happy as this was my first car. Two weeks ago, I was driving to France and my gearbox died leaving me only with the first gear working. I went to a garage in France and we phoned the insurance but the insurance said that it cannot guarantee that it would cover me. They offered me to leave the car in France and to go back to London by myself. I refused to consider this option as I could not allow my self to stay in France (I had to go back to work) for more than the week-end and I could not afford to take the train/plane from Paris to London. The insurer said that they would not cover any costs associated with me going back to London. So I had to get the car back to London, and to drive it back home. I went to a garage where a very nice person accepted to take care of the car. He phoned the insurance and arranged everything. The insurer sent some engineers who inspected the car and the insurance said to the garage that they would only cover 65% of the costs...due to the mileage of the car (83,000 miles roughly). The garage has repared the car without asking me if I was ok to pay the last 35% and the insurer did not mention it to me either. I am going to call the insurance tomorrow to get more details about this story...but my concern is that : 1/ I am afraid of talking to them and to commit a mistake that could cost me more 2/ I don't know exactly what I am entitled to get and what are my resources in case they just refuse to change anything on this 3/ They ask me to pay the money upfront (around 2,000) and then I would have to make a claime but...I don't feel confident doing this..and I am far from having this money... I am really looking for help and advice here, I hope that someone will be able to assist, Thanks a lot, and have a very good evening

Replace Old Car Insurance or Go With a New Policy?

I just bought a new car and quoted Progressive about replacing my old car with the new one, seeing how much a difference the premium would be. It got a little high, to say the least. When I tried just going through adding a new vehicle alongside the old one, the premium was about what I paid on the old vehicle originally, only with comprehensive and collision added. Good place to buy car insurance for an 18 year old?

I'm 18 and just recently passed my driving test. Problem is, my Dad wants to put me down as a second driver on his car but it's a BMW sport with a 2L engine. I rear-ended a car and that car hit another car. The car in the middle I believe will have lots of damages to repair. When my premium rates increase, what is the deciding factor on how much it will increase? Is it the cost of repairs to the cars? or just the fact that I got into an accident. In addition, with this one accident and 2 cars having damaged does that mean that the insurance company would see me hitting 2 cars instead of one which will increase my premium even more? Hello I am looking to buy a 2007 mustang but my dad is telling me it's a bad idea because insurance is going to be too high. Texas Car Insurance Questions?

I'm living in Texas for school right now and I've been driving my car which is licensed, insured and registered for Michigan because I'm technically still a Michigan resident. At the same time I'm still paying insurance on a car of mine thats in Michigan for my mom to use. Well, the car that I've been driving here in Texas died on me so I went to a dealership and bought a new car. Now I'm unsure what to do. Do I call my insurance and have them insure it through Michigan again? (But then how would I get my Michigan Plates?) Or because I bought it in Texas, am I suppose to register it in Texas and get the state inspection and then insure it in Texas? I'm so confused. In Michigan, the cars don't need those yearly inspections.. so idk what that is. Also, I'm considering staying here in Texas once I'm done with school..so I feel like that plays a part in my dillemma too.

I have just been bought a car for when i pass my driving test, so i do not have a full UK provisional license yet. I have been looking online for insurance quotes, they are expensive which i expected, but i was told that when i have entered my details the system will register that i do not hold a full license with he DVLA (even though i put in that i do, just for the sake of a quote) And this is why the quotes are higher..if i was to do the same when my license was valid it would be much lower.
